Block Buster was built on Snap's new Connected Framework, launched in Lens Studio 5.24 to bring real-time multiplayer matchmaking to Snapchat Lenses for the first time. The framework handles synced game state, host authority, and Bitmoji players natively. Block Buster was one of the earliest games to ship on it.
Design the visual effects for Block Buster, one of the first multiplayer games built on Snap's Connected Framework.
This was the first game of its kind on the platform, so there was no established visual concept to build from. I proposed several directions for the game's core visual effects, exploring how the boundary mechanic between players could look and feel. One of them, the Boundary Barrier, was selected and carried through to the final build.
The Boundary Barrier effect shipped in the final version of Block Buster, one of Snap's first multiplayer Lens games.
