McDonald's and Snapchat brought the 1970s McDonaldland universe back to life in nearly 14,000 restaurants across the USA, with six Snap AR adventures and live AR mirrors. The experience uses geolocation to turn restaurant interiors into the classic McDonaldland world, with characters like Grimace and the Hamburglar.

Build visual effects for games: Grimace Island Dash and Birdie's Dream Flight.
The challenge was fitting the world into a mobile frame budget. Grimace Island Dash alone had floating obstacles, a splashing volcano, and drifting clouds all on screen at once, which is a heavy lens to run in real time. I optimized every asset down to what the frame rate could afford without thinning out the scene. The world still felt full, and it held a stable FPS on an average phone.
A shipped set of visual effects that stayed true to McDonaldland's classic characters, with high visual density and character count at a stable frame rate on mobile.
